A Beginners Guide to Japan; Observations and Provocations,  Autumn Light; Season of Fire and Farewells, and Art of Stillness; Adventures in Going Nowhere, all three by Pico Iyer

All three of these recent books by Iyer are short delightful reads by an American travel writer now married to a Japanese woman, where he now focuses his findings.  Iyer, who has traveled the world, and written about his travels, offers these three books on what it has been like and continues to be a life lived mostly in Japan with his family for more than thirty-two years. Short meditations, offer nuggets of how to live a life in a fast paced, high tech world, which he navigates as needed.  Iyer: “It’s as if almost all of us now feel like emergency-room physicians, perpetually on call and obliged to heal ourselves but unable to find our prescriptions amid all the data on our desk.”

How often I can relate.
